Become an Advocate for The ALS Association

Take the Extra Step
Stop by the Advocacy booth at your local Walk to Defeat ALSTM and sign a letter to your Members of Congress urging them to support The ALS Association’s top public policy priorities.
In 2003, The ALS Association began soliciting signatures for letters at Walk to Defeat ALSTM events that were to be sent to U.S. Senators.  The letters had a tremendous affect on raising overall awareness of ALS on Capitol Hill and they contributed to several significant legislative victories.  The “I Took the Extra Step” letter writing campaign is now an official part of the Walk to Defeat ALSTM program.  After each Walk, your local Chapter forwards the signed letters to the Advocacy Department in Washington, DC and the letters are hand-delivered to Congressional Offices.

Become an ALS Association Advocate
An ALS Association Advocate is a member of a volunteer network of individuals who wants to make a difference in the fight against ALS through government relations.  ALS Association Advocates receive email action alerts and the latest updates on ALS issues within Congress and at the state level.
